- Offline Running is not anti-technology. It’s only anti the stuff that negatively affects your happiness, humanity, and running.
- Offline Running is not backward looking. It doesn’t look to a time when running-obsessed Luddites ruled the roads in their headbands, tube socks, ill-fitting sports bras, and horribly chafing cotton running shorts.
- Offline Running is not exclusionary or prohibitive. For example, if you’re fond of certain types of technology (air buds!), and believe they enhance your running experience, that’s great. We love that. You won’t be kicked out of the club. (There is no club.)
- Offline Running is not full of itself. We’re not saying ours is the best way and we’re certainly not saying it’s the only way. We simply see the offline spirit as a good alternative for people who need and want to unplug during their runs. Who need an escape to freedom.
- Offline Running is not about self-punishment. When espousing the low-tech route, we’re not trying to make running harder, or lonelier, or turn it into some sort of noble solitary confinement. And no, you’re not being punished for your previous dependency on technology.
Rather, Offline Running is humble, positive, open-minded, forward-looking, inclusive, fun, and hopefully meaningful. And yes, analog and artisanal—why not?!
In our increasingly technological, AI-obsessed, social media-dominated age, many people are looking for those things more than ever.
